Deburring is a key material removal process after a variety of manufacturing operations including machining, cutting, forging, stamping and casting. With numerous edges and complex geometries, manual deburring can be time-consuming and inconsistent. This leads to downstream product quality issues in assembly, and expensive rework impact.
Robotic deburring, powered by our Argus OS software, transforms your manual process into a fully autonomous, zero programming operation. Deburr with clean precision and consistent quality.

Our Smart Finishing™ Robotic Workcell systems include the option of a Deburring Kit to automate your deburring material removal processes:
Precise force and speed applied to parts for more consistent output
Extend abrasive life and reduce usage by 30% or more
Boost your production capacity up to 400% and reduce rework costs up to 90%
The Smart Finishing™ Robotic Workcell features a Deburring Kit option that includes the hardware, compliance tooling, and our proprietary AI-powered Argus OS software to perform a range of operations to meet your production needs. Common applications include:
Remove sharp edges and machining burrs while maintaining strict dimensional accuracy and surface quality. Perfect for aluminum, steel, and superalloys.
Achieve a flawless finish on every casting. Remove excess material and parting lines to create smooth profiles ready for immediate coating or assembly.

Robotic deburring consists of a robotic manipulator (typically 6 or 7-DOF) with an axially or radially compliant end effector tool to perform delicate removal of burrs from edges or holes on metal parts following machining, casting, stamping or cutting operation. Due to the importance of contact force and tool movement speed, a force control approach is often used for the best quality output.
When performed manually, deburring operations can be hazardous to employee health, especially without the proper personal protective equipment (PPE). This can include long-term effects due to dust inhalation and vibrational impact. Robotic deburring protects workers from these hazards while offering more consistent quality, higher production output levels, and more predictable adhesives usage.
Yes, our Smart Finishing™ Robotic Workcell is designed with the high-mix manufacturer in mind, where part variability is common. Our integrated vision system and proprietary AI software (Argus OS) scans, understands, and automatically programs and operates the robot for whatever part, or batch of parts, is present.
